Martha Josey's Book “Run to Win With Me in Barrel Racing”

Over the past 30 years of gathering rodeo history information and meeting and getting to know cowgirls and cowboys all over this country it amazes me that some of the best known world champions, can be as ‘down to earth’ and humble as they come.  One of those people, who I am happy to call a friend is Martha Josey.  She is an amazing cowgirl that has accomplished so much, in spite of several serious injuries, that would sideline most people indefinitely, and yet she is available, always jovial, and has a smile on her face.

Martha Josey has become a world champion barrel racer many times, a hall of fame inductee numerous times, and an Olympic Medalist, along with other accomplishments such as qualifying for the National Finals Rodeo twelve times in four decades.  She has been inducted in to the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame, and the Rodeo Historical Society Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City.  Her additional inductions, honors and awards are too numerous to mention, but are listed in her book.

Martha has trained thousands of barrel racers over the last 49 years at her seminars at their Karnack ranch in East Texas and across the country.  She has written numerous articles about the sport, as well as published books and videos.  I believe her various forms of information on barrel racing is because she has the desire to help as many serious and determined barrel racers improve.  She is only one person and can only do so much so these ‘tools’ can help her spread ‘the word’ about barrel racing.  Sharing her knowledge and what she has learned over the years with others is primary in her life.

I have just read her book, “Run to Win With Me in Barrel Racing” cover to cover, and I dare anyone to find more advice and more detail regarding the racer, the horse, the tack, exercise, mental focus and so much more.

To order her book “Run to Win With Me in Barrel Racing” go to www.JoseyWesternStore.com.  The book sells for $29.95, with $5.00 for mailing.  Let her know, in the Comment Section, if you want her to autograph it for you.

A great read!!
